On Saturday afternoon, Anthony Morelli took a professional football field as the quarterback for the first time…maybe ever? As the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League took on the Tulsa Talons on Saturday afternoon, Morelli came into the game for the Power in the third quarter after the starting quarterback, Kevin McCabe, was largely ineffective. He was so ineffective, in fact, that his coach likened his teams 14-point performance at half behind McCabe to scoring negative 14 points in outdoor football.
Morelli, in true Morelli fashion, threw an interception on his first drive of the game and ended up 11-17 for 114 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. The Power ended up losing 45-22, but the fact that Morelli played could be a promising sign for him for the rest of the season. Morelli was cut from the Power earlier in the year, but was re-signed last week when starting QB Bernard Morris went down with an arm injury.
