Notes

  • It was a painful day to be a Nittany Lion on Sunday, as 3 Penn Staters suffered injurie. Starting with the worst, after making the 2nd start of his career, Rich Ohrnberger injured a knee injury and was placed on IR earlier today. He had started the last 2 weeks because of an injury to starter Lyle Sendlein. On the bright side, it got him out of the 58-0 trouncing early. Playing in only his 5th game this season, Phil Taylor was forced out of play early due to an ankle injury. The extent of the injury is currently unknown. Finally, Robbie Gould strained his left calf in warmups on Sunday and was limited to extra point & onside kickoff duties.
  • In what seems to be a bit of karma, a pair of Nittany Lions actually benefitted from injuries to others. A.Q. Shipley & Tim Shaw were thrust into every-down roles on Sunday after their teammates went down. Shaw, who is normally limited to special teams, got his first start of the season and capitalized on his increase in playing time by forcing a fumble. Shipley was slotted into the lineup for the Colts’ entire second half.
  • With his 3-sack performance against the 49ers, Cameron Wake‘s season sack total increased to 14, which is good for 4th best in the NFL. That puts him only 2 behind Von Miller and 2.5 behind J.J. Watt. The 14 sacks also tie a career high for Wake, set back in 2010.
