Morelli Trying Out for UFL’s Hartford Colonials

Despite the fact that Anthony Morelli’s Pittsburgh Power are still in the midst of the AFL season, the former Penn State quarterback is looking to move to the upper echelons of professional football (while the lockout is still going on at least). Despite the fact that the Power are second in their conference in the AFL, Morelli will try his luck to earn a spot alongside Colt Brennan (Hawaii) and Jerrod Johnson (Texas A&M) on the Colonials. As the article points out, however, AFL players have a yearly salary of just over $7,000 while UFL players make a minimum of $35k. Not a bad upgrade.

Morelli went 1-2 as a starter for the Power this season and even earned the AFL’s player of the week once. He eventually lost the starting job after a throwing few interceptions in key situations (Luckily we never had to deal with that when he was in college) and players returned from injuries. If any news about being signed comes out, PSU in the NFL will have it for you.

Also, I must thank This Is Getting Old once again for the tip.
