Preseason Week One Recap

August 12th, 2013

Hey all,

My name’s Nick Polak.  I’m a writer over at Black Shoe Diaries on SB Nation, where I mainly focus on recruiting.  However, I have been persuaded to write over here as well by Brian.  So here I am.  Hope you enjoy me.  (Note- I will write about Jordan Hill and Michael Robinson until my heart bursts, because I’m a Seahawks fan.)

So without further ado, here’s a quick recap of what our former Lions did in their 2013 preseason debuts this past weekend.

There were a few standout performers among the former Nittany Lions during the first week of preseason.  For starters, everyone’s favorite walk-on, Matt McGloin, was 4/7 passing for 78 yards and a touchdown catch.  However, it must be noted that it was a fantastic catch by fellow rookie, Brice Butler.  Sean Lee had a huge game in his limited time, racking up 3 tackles to go along with a strip sack.  Evan “School Leading Rusher” Royster picked up a very solid 62 yards on 14 rushes.

On the offensive side of the ball, some former standouts had some nice contributions.  Brett Brackett and Derek Moye each caught 2 balls, for 19 yards and 22 yards, respectively.  Jordan Norwood also had one catch for 9 yards.  Robbie Gould put a 35 yarder through the uprights on his only attempt of the day.

On the defensive side, Gerald Hodges, Paul Posluszny, and Chaz Powell all had 3 tackles each.  Dan Connor, Josh Hull, Devon Still, and Nate Stupar all took down 2 ballcarriers each.  Tim Shaw, Cameron Wake, Michael Mauti, and Jordan Hill all checked in with 1 tackle each, as well.

Finally, it must be mentioned that Mike Zordich is seemingly done for the year with a torn ACL.  Life is truly, truly unfair sometimes.  We all wish Mike a speedy recovery, and we know he’ll come back stronger than ever.
