Week in Review: Ogbu Traded, Scott Officially Listed as LB
At this time tomorrow, I may be coming to the realization that there will be no PSU-in-the-NFLers for the next decade, so let’s pretend all is well in the PSU-NFL world for just a few more hours.
Here’s what happened with your Penn Staters in the NFL this week:
Ollie Ogbu Traded to Eagles
If we won’t be able to watch a competitive Penn State football team playing for the next ____ years, at least we’ll get to see a former Penn Stater play pro ball in Pennsylvania. Former Nittany Lion captain Ollie Ogbu was traded from the Indianapolis Colts to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon. In exchange, the Colts received cornernback D.J. Johnson, who has been on and off NFL squads since 2009.
Ogbu spent his entire 2011 rookie season as a member of the Colts’ practice squad, but as NFL.com points out, the Colts are switching to a 3-4 defense this season and Ogbu is not quite the nose tackle type due to his lack of size.
The real story here, though, is mentioned at the bottom of that same NFL.com article, as there is now a player in the NFL named Tiger Jones.
Bryan Scott Officially Listed as Linebacker
A few WiR’s (I think we’re on that level now) ago, I mentioned that Bills veteran Bryan Scott had been taking more snaps with the team’s linebacking unit, rather than the safeties, which is where he had been listed throughout his NFL career. Earlier in the week, the Bills released their official depth chart, and Scott is listed as a second-string outside linebacker. He didn’t appear on the safety depth chart at all. Say hi to Nick Sukay while you’re looking there, though.
Sean Lee “Top Candidate” to Be Cowboys Defensive Leader
In a bit of news that will surprise all of no one, a Cowboys beat reporter for the Dallas Morning News said in an interview that Sean Lee is “the top candidate to become the defensive leader.”
He makes the calls and he has a commanding presence. The older players have a tremendous amount of respect for him.
Now, we just need to figure a way to get him off of the Cowboys and on to a team that my team doesn’t have to play twice a year, and we’ll be good!
NBA Summer League Update
Might as well turn this into a recurring thing.

This Week’s Overdramatic Sportswriter on Sanctions:
I normally try to avoid giving extra exposure to this sort of riduculousness, but as I was typing this post, I came across these tweets from Stephen A.
The part I’m referring to is the “sentence” that carries over between the 2 tweets, where he suggests that current Penn Staters in the NFL should be punished as part of the NCAA sanction package.
I don’t even need a follow-up that.
